In March of 2008 we were asked by Teatown Lake Reservation, an environmental educational center and nature preserve in Ossining NY, to perform surgery on their resident Bald Eagle, Gryphon. Gryphon was nonreleasable due to an injury causing an inability to fully use the right wing. There was a nonhealing wound on the skin of the right shoulder that was not responding to medical treatment. Somers Animal Hospital and our consulting surgeon, Dr. Robert Steckel, donated our services to try and repair the wound.
